ASHE COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) – An 18-year-old man was arrested after he was found with over five pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Ashe County.

According to the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office, on May 7, a deputy was patrolling the Jefferson area when he noticed a car with several traffic violations.

The deputy pulled the car over and the driver was identified as Joshua Cordoba from Catawba, N.C., who was driving on an idefinitely suspended license.

Upon the search of Cordoba’s car, deputies said they found three concealed guns, a large sum of money, over five pounds of marijuana, a baggie with mushrooms and several drug paraphernalia items.

Cordoba’s charges include felony possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana, possessing marijuana paraphernalia, carrying a concealed gun, driving while license revoked not impaired, resisting a public officer and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Cordoba was booked and later released at the Ashe County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond.
