HARMONY, Maine (WABI) – Authorities say they seized hundreds of marijuana plants at yet another illegal grow operation here in Maine.

Hundreds of plants were seized at a home on South Road in Harmony Friday morning, according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

It was the culmination of a months-long investigation.

Authorities say no one was home at the time of the search.

In all, authorities seized 1,277 plants and 25 pounds of processed marijuana, and drug-related documentation, and drug-related paraphernalia.

We’re told the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office will file criminal charges against the owner after reviewing the case.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office says they have executed 15 search warrants at illegal grow facilities since January of this year.

The search warrants have been carried out in the Ripley, Harmony, Skowhegan, Madison, Norridgewock, Mercer, and Solon.

They’ve seized 18,000 marijuana plants and 400 pounds of processed cannabis, leading to the arrest of eight people who are now charged with felony drug trafficking and marijuana cultivation.

The Somerset/Kennebec County District Attorney’s Office and U.S. Attorney’s Office assisted with this investigation.
