Recreational use of marijuana has been legal in Illinois since 2020. During that time, people have been spending upwards of $130 million dollars a month on cannabis and that doesn’t even count medical use. The law that legalized and commercialized marijuana here also directed that some of the tax money be used to try to answer questions about the effects on our society.
