The Taiwanese Aviation Police Bureau said on Wednesday that it and Taipei customs had cracked a drug-smuggling case in which two suspects attempted to transport around 45kg of the illegal drug from Thailand in their checked-in luggage in April.

The pair, who were in transit to Hong Kong from Bangkok, were intercepted by customs officers at Taoyuan airport, which serves Taipei and northern Taiwan.

Authorities revealed the details of the case on Wednesday following the conclusion of a five-month investigation.
