NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Patients and providers in New Jersey will now be able to forego the $10 fee to obtain physical copies of their medical marijuana.

Instead, they’ll now be able to download digital copies of them for free that they can keep on their smartphones or print out.

The new digital forms will become available on March 1.

Jeff Brown, executive director of the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (NJ-CRC), said they are always looking for ways to improve access and convenience for patients.

“We are excited to offer free digital medicinal cannabis cards to patients in New Jersey,” Brown said in a press release from NJ-CRC. “Our goal with this initiative is to improve accessibility and convenience for patients who require medical cannabis for their treatment. By offering digital options, we make it more convenient for patients to receive the care they need.”

Medical card holders also get other perks such as preferred parking, exclusive patient only hours and tax-free purchases.
