An illegal Pittsburg County marijuana grow was shut down by law enforcement Tuesday following a warrant service.
The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics said agents from the Marijuana Enforcement Team conducted a search warrant Tuesday at a residence on Sunshine Road in Pittsburg County.
OBN said the search warrant was tied to an investigation into illegal marijuana cultivation.
“Agents seized 4,788 marijuana plants and 691 pounds of processed marijuana,” OBN said in a press release announcing the bust.
It is not the first time the location has been under investigation.
Two people were arrested in 2023 after a multi-county grand jury issued indictments for several counts of manufacturing and trafficking marijuana through farms across the state with one being in Pittsburg County.
Both men were accused of manufacturing and trafficking marijuana from Green Panda Cultivation Inc., a business that was listed at the same address as Tuesday’s search warrant at the time of the 2023 indictments.
The OBN said arrests are pending as the investigation continues.
Assisting OBN in the search warrant were deputies from the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
According to officials, since 2021, OBN’s MET has shut down more than 2,500 marijuana grows, arrested over 250 individuals, and seized over 975,000 pounds of marijuana as part of criminal investigations for operating with a license obtained by fraud and/or growing for the out-of-state black market.
As a result of OBN’s enforcement efforts, Oklahoma’s medical marijuana program has seen a rapid drop in the number of criminal organizations operating illegal farms in Oklahoma.
OBN Registrations for growers dropped from 9,400 in 2021, to 6,400 in 2022, and that number is now closer to 3,000.
