SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — Two men have been arrested after police caught them transporting over 2,000 pounds of illegal marijuana in Siskiyou County.
“On the evening of July 31st, two Siskiyou County Deputies were patrolling the Big Springs area when they noticed a blue Ford truck towing a U-Haul trailer swerve across the double yellow lines into the oncoming lane of County Road A-12,” the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
The men — 38-year-old Jeffreye Silva and 44-year-old Jeremy Swanner — had about 2,183 pounds of illegal marijuana in their car, the release said. Police smelled the marijuana and checked the car and trailer.
“Two deputies located a combined 131 large bags filled with marijuana,” the post said. “…Neither man had a Department of Cannabis Control distribution license as required for the lawful transportation of marijuana in California.”
Both men are in Siskiyou County Jail facing charges for the possession and transportation of illegal marijuana for sale, the post said.
