BOWIE COUNTY, Texas (KSLA) – Two men are in custody after reportedly being found with more than 100 lbs of marijuana.
The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office says on May 1, a deputy pulled a car over in the 8400 block of Highway 67. He talked to the driver, who was identified as Ramon Martinez-Munguia, and while talking noticed a strong smell of marijuana. When asked about the smell, the driver reportedly handed the deputy two rolled marijuana cigarettes. At that point, the driver was arrested.
The passenger in the car was identified as Marc Isauro Arteaga-Carrion. He was asked to get out of the car so it could be searched. When the deputy opened the trunk, two one-pound sealed bags of marijuana fell out, the sheriff’s office says.
OTHER CRIME IN THE ARKLATEX
The deputy continued to search the car, and reportedly found 114 bags of marijuana weighing a total of 126 lbs. The deputy also reportedly found $2,100 in cash.
Both men are charged with possession of marijuana over 50 lbs and under 2,000 lbs. Bond was set at $100,000 for each man.
