CONWAY, S.C. (WPDE) — A man was arrested for attempting to escape after a search led to a drug bust, according to an incident report from Horry County Police Department.

The report said Eric Jordan, 28, was charged with possession of marijuana, PWID – MDMA, resisting arrest with injury and attempting to escape custody.

The incident report said officers responded to an area on E Highway 501 on April 6 in reference to a ‘suspicious person call.’

Upon arrival, officers detained the suspect at a business after he said the ‘owner is okay with him being there after hours.’

Officers said they called the business owner to confirm, and the owner said he knows who he is and that it was okay.

After this, officers said they saw ‘what appeared to be marijuana’ in a tobacco wrapper in his car.

The officers searched the vehicle and found a bag with 11.46 grams of marijuana and two sealed packages of 6.16 grams and 8.4 grams of marijuana.

Officers said they also found a black trash bag with a purple sling bag that had a scale and a Mentos gum container. The incident report said the container had what appeared to be 53 MDMA pills.

After that, Jordan was placed under arrest.

He told officers his handcuffs were too tight while in the back of the patrol car. Upon trying to adjust his handcuffs, officers said he attempted to escape custody.

While trying to get him back into custody, officers said ‘he began to physically fight with officers.’ The report said that Jordan struck one victim in the throat, the left temple and caused a laceration to their hand.

Officers said they then used a stun gun to get Jordan back into custody. He was treated to be medically cleared at Carolina Forest ER.

Jordan was released from J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $26,000 bond, according to booking records.
