HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. — According to Governor Newsom, 316 million dollars’ worth of illegal cannabis has been seized throughout the state just this year. The discoveries were the result of the combined efforts of the governor’s unified cannabis enforcement task force, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the Department of Cannabis Control.
There were also 212,681 illicit cannabis plants confiscated; officials issued 99 warrants, which resulted in the removal of 35 firearms and 29 arrests.
In Humboldt County, Sheriff Honsal said his department has received $1 million from Proposition 64, in collaboration with Humboldt’s Health and Human Services, to support their marijuana enforcement team.
“So we’re trying to go after the illegal growers, the cartels that are out here growing, the people that are up here trafficking, and labor, and so those are the types of things we’re focusing on and where to be making sure that we’re pushing in this year to the illegal marijuana industry.”
If you suspect someone is involved in illegal activity, you can contact the Sheriff’s Crime Tip Hotline at (707) 268-2539 to report it.
