SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Sumter man has been arrested on a marijuana distribution charge following a Tuesday traffic stop, said Sumter Co. deputies.

Luke Eugene Taylor, Jr., was arrested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana on Tuesday, April 22.

Deputies said Taylor was arrested after they discovered nearly 2k of marijuana during a traffic stop, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The traffic stop was initiated when a Sumter County deputy in an unmarked patrol vehicle was passed at a high rate of speed by another vehicle while traveling northbound on Lafayette Drive.

During the traffic stop while speaking with the driver, the deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed multiple packages of marijuana hidden in several locations inside the vehicle, said SCSO.
