Prohibition Partners and Mary Jane Berlin are pleased to announce the agenda for the inaugural International Cannabis Business Day, taking place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Messe Berlin.

This business-to-business (B2B) conference forms part of the wider Mary Jane Berlin festival and marks the start of European Cannabis Week, which will include four separate events across Berlin and London from June 19-25.

Designed to support international operators, investors, and policymakers, the event comes as Germany solidifies its position as Europe’s largest cannabis market.

The day will open with a keynote address by Miguel Martin, CEO and Executive Chairman of Aurora Cannabis, who will set the tone for a day of forward-facing dialogue. Shortly after, attendees will hear a fireside discussion with industry leaders before splitting into a dual-track program of panels and workshops.

The programme will tackle some of the most critical challenges and opportunities facing the European cannabis industry today. Among the first sessions is Expanding Beyond Borders, where Casa Verde’s Managing Partner Karan Wadhera and Fieldfisher LLP’s regulatory expert Robert Jappie will discuss how businesses can build sustainable international operations despite complex and fragmented legal frameworks across Europe.

This session will run in parallel with a focused executive workshop led by Mitchell Osak of Quanta Consulting, offering practical advice for cannabis leaders preparing for market entry in new jurisdictions.

As retail continues to evolve globally, the session The Future of Cannabis Retail will see High Tide CEO Raj Grover, NABIS co-founder Jun S. Lee, and Mitchell Osak of Quanta Consulting explore innovation trends from North America and assess how experiential design, mobile engagement, and community-focused models are being adapted for European markets.

In the early afternoon, the conference will delve into two core market issues. In the workshop space, Aleksandra Vujinović and Olivia Ewenike from the Cannabis Law Academy will examine the business and compliance opportunities within Germany’s new cannabis social club market.

On the main stage, a major panel discussion titled Blurred Lines will address the increasingly overlapping dynamics between medical and recreational cannabis markets, featuring David Henn of Semdor Pharma Group, Lisa Haag of MJ UNIVERSE, medical operator Dr Can Ansay, and artist and entrepreneur Big Narstie.

Another data-driven session led by Pablo Zuanic of Zuanic & Associates will provide a deep dive into the structure and size of the German medical cannabis market. With a focus on reimbursed versus private-pay models, pricing dynamics, and SKU segmentation, this session is tailored for investors, operators, and public sector decision-makers seeking a sharper understanding of Germany’s market potential.

The day will conclude with Feeling the Pinch, a vital conversation around emerging signs of pricing pressure in Germany’s high-growth medical cannabis sector, featuring insights from key market figures like Francesco Baganz (Remexian), Torstein Grief (Four 20 Pharma), Albert Schwarzmeier (enua), and regulatory expert Deepak Anand, into how the country’s largest operators are preparing for the next phase of market evolution.
