NEW HAVEN, CT — A multi-agency task force targeting smoke shops in New Haven raided three shops last week and seized 100 pounds of cannabis and products including edibles, vapes, concentrates, and flower, officials said.
In a news briefing Mayor Justin Elicker, Chief of Police Karl Jacobson, state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Ronnel Higgins, state Department of Consumer Affairs Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli, and representatives from the Connecticut State Police discussed the initial results of a targeted enforcement.
Officials described the raids as “unannounced inspections,” and displayed the seized cannabis and cannabis products.
According to a New Haven police news release, the enforcement action grew out of “a combination of citizen complaints, illegal sales and associated criminal behavior and will be part of increased inspections going forward in order to ensure the accountability of store owners and employees in following marijuana laws in Connecticut.”
