ROCK VALLEY—A 51-year-old Rock Valley man was arrested about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence and first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana.

The arrest of A’dryan Maurice Evans stemmed from the stop of a 2018 Subaru Impreza for a faulty taillight on Elmwood Avenue near Second Street Southeast in Rock Valley, according to the Rock Valley Police Department.

The odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle, and Evans admitted to smoking a marijuana vape before driving, according to the incident report. The vaping device later was field tested positive for THC.

Evans had bloodshot/water eyes and impaired balance and failed field sobriety tests.
