A Burlington man was arrested Sunday evening after police say he was seen exposing himself as he was walking down the street and was later found with marijuana.
Terry Parsons, 62, was arrested by the Burlington Police Department and charged with indecent exposure and possession of a controlled substance-marijuana-second offense (serious misdemeanors).
At around 6:04 p.m., Burlington police were called to the area of N. 9th and Oak streets for a report of a man with his genitals out touching himself.
When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with two witnesses who stated they were riding in a car and saw a man, later identified as Parsons, walking down the street with his penis out, masturbating, before walking inside a home on Des Moines Avenue, according to a criminal complaint.
Officers then located Parsons at an apartment on the 1900 block of Des Moines Avenue.
Parsons denied exposing himself, but was placed under arrested, the complaint states.
As they were searching Parsons, he told officers he had a “marijuana cigarette” in his possession, according to the complaint.
Parsons is being held at the Des Moines County Jail on $2,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 2 p.m. May 29 at the Des Moines County Courthouse.
