The weed, cannabis, and hemp culture is in the air and can be seen throughout Seaside Heights on the Jersey Shore in 2025.
It is in the culture and spirit of our times as the legal NJ cannabis market booms and intoxicating hemp is being sold by crafty convenience store operators.
The opportunity and zeitgeist is being exploited by many of the small businesses who make most of their money during the tourist season from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day weekend.
Even souvenir shops has gotten into the game selling gummies and pipes. That was an amazing thing to see. You would not expect an intoxicating product to be sold at the place where bennies or tourists buy Jersey Shore souvenirs.
The loophole created by the 2018 Farm Bill has given birth to a unique intoxicating hemp industry. The details of the industry vary state by state. New Jersey is trying to figure out its policy now with the toothpaste out of the tube.
In addition, there were many weed joke shirts for sale. There were a great range of them at several tourist gift shops. There’s also a lot of pro President Donald Trump merchandise for sale.
The MTV hit show the Jersey Shore which is on Hulu makes their presence felt throughout town. Snooki’s Shop is a short walk from the boardwalk.
The NJ Shore Store on the boardwalk where the cast of the Jersey Shore crew worked has a wall of their quotes and jokes and related ones next to the weed section.
Next to the store where they worked is a smoke shop selling Delta 8 THC pictured above.
It was not the only smoke shop on the boardwalk.
The conservative nature of locals in Ocean County and most of the Jersey Shore has made it so few legal NJ adult use dispensaries can be found, including Seaside Heights and Point Pleasant.
Social Leaf dispensary in nearby South Toms River across the bay is the closest one to the boardwalk. It had a couple signs up emphasizing how they deliver. They also had a deal with a popular bar and grill sponsoring a concert along with other licensed cannabis companies.
Another one is High Profile of Lakehurst which Heady NJ previously advertised full disclosure.
The fight to open a legal dispensary in conservative Republican Ocean County has been especially difficult for many local enterprises. But some continue to strive to open like underground legacy to legal cannabis operator Daniel Kessel.
There’s plenty of bars and bar and grills on the boardwalk too.
Several conservative Republican mayors and politicians including Seaside Heights have made a lot of smoke about how they don’t like weed being smoked in public. You can be fined up to $1250 and thrown in jail for 90 days or mandated community service according to their laws.
But it’s also really easy to get away with getting high at the Jersey Shore.
Gummies and drinks would be the easiest ways to get high and get away with it.
When it’s night time, it’s fun to smoke weed on the beach itself. There’s barely anyone around to admire the tranquility and beauty of the shore.
Smoking under the boardwalk was probably the most fun since it’s the most discreet and unique place. The Seaside Heights boardwalk pier offered ample coverage.
During the day, a vape pen is always discreet and good even if it might be harsh since it doesn’t smell the way weed flower nugs does.
Regardless, our movement has made great strides in Jersey towards making cannabis and hemp a celebrated part of culture.
It fits in well with the fun permissive culture of some Jersey Shore towns in Monmouth County and down the Garden State Parkway. There plenty of beach bars and nightclubs in Belmar, Asbury Park and Atlantic City. They are among the more conservative places you often quickly find.
