ACADIA PARISH, La. (NEWS 15) — A narcotics operation in Acadia Parish resulted in the seizure of more than 200 pounds of marijuana but they are still looking for their suspect.
Deputies said Skyevonte Mayfield, 24, of Branch, is wanted for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. They added the marijuana that was seized has a street value of $1.8 million.
A search warrant was executed at a location on Church Point Highway north of Rayne on Tuesday, May 13, and that’s when the drugs were found.
The operation was part of a joint investigation with the Greater Baton Rouge Narcotics Taskforce. Authorities said that several people from Baton Rouge were involved in transporting and selling the drugs in Acadia Parish.
The taskforce has already arrested three men from the Baton Rouge area. They will be transferred to the Acadia Parish Jail on distribution of marijuana charges.
