Cogan Station, Pa. — Police say they busted a drug dealing operation based in a campground in November. They took two into custody in January, and another in April for allegedly storing a motherlode of marijuana.

On Nov. 13, Detective Tyson Haven of the Lycoming County Narcotics Enforcement Unit went to Haleeka Campground and met a married couple at their residence to interview them about their alleged marijuana dealing.

During the interview, Joseph Martelli, 50, and his wife, Joyellen Evans, 49, turned over approximately 30 pounds of marijuana, 70 THC vape cartridges, and 10 ounces of “marijuana butter,” Haven says.

Martelli then led the detective to the residence of his neighbor, Michelle Eshelman, 51, where he allegedly turned over two safes storing about 26 pounds of marijuana.

Eshelman allegedly admitted to Haven she knew the marijuana was being stored in her trailer.

Bail and charges

Arrest dates are not listed for Martelli, Evans, or Eshelman in their respective dockets, but the dates their bails were set are available.

Martelli and Evans, joined together as co-defendants, both received $50,000 monetary bail on Jan. 4, and each were released on Jan. 28 after their bails were changed to unsecured. Eshelman received $25,000 unsecured bail on April 23.

Each of the trio faces one felony count of possession with intent to deliver. Martelli and Evans are both scheduled to enter guilty pleas on June 27. Eshelman’s formal arraignment is set for May 19.
