BROOK PARK, Ohio – An armed Cleveland man, 18, was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. May 7 after police caught him with four underage teens, who were out past their curfew, in his vehicle.

Police noticed the man’s Nissan Altima stopped at a red light on northbound West 150th Street at Brookpark Road. The car’s passenger-side door opened, then closed. The light turned green and the car continued northbound.

Police checked the Altima’s license-plate number and learned that the car’s registration had expired in January. They pulled over the car on West 150th north of Interstate 480.

The man wasn’t carrying a permanent driver’s license, only a temporary driving permit. The four passengers told police they were all younger than 18.

Police told the man they were going to impound the Altima due to the expired registration and his lack of a permanent driver’s license.

Police smelled marijuana in the Altima. The man said he and the teens had been smoking a “weed pen.” He added that an unloaded firearm was under the driver’s seat.

Police confiscated the firearm and ammunition from the man’s pocket.
