Nevada law prohibits people from smoking marijuana in public.
Since Jan. 1, 2017, adults 21 and older have been able to possess and consume marijuana in Nevada, but consumption is banned outside of private residences or businesses specifically designated for the purpose.
Public places that are generally off-limits for smoking marijuana include hotels, casinos, parks, concerts, sporting events and festivals, according to a Nevada cannabis information website.
Cannabis consumption lounges are allowed under state law, but they must meet certain requirements such as installing adequate ventilation. As of April 2025, just one such state-licensed business was operating in Nevada.
