A family-run dispensary has become the first adult-use cannabis store to open in Ulysses, marking a milestone for the rural Finger Lakes town.

The Corner House officially opened its doors on May 28 at 1708 Trumansburg Road, offering a boutique-style cannabis experience in a space designed to feel like “an old friend’s house,” according to co-owner Josh Friedman. “Our goal was to preserve the building’s original charm and create a boutique-style dispensary with a legacy feel—something timeless, relaxed, and inviting,” he said.

To celebrate the opening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Trumansburg Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for Friday, June 20 at 3:00 p.m. The event is open to the public, ages 21 and up, with refreshments and a chance to meet the team behind the shop. In case of bad weather, the ceremony will move next door to Mama Said Cafe.

Co-owner Joan Friedman emphasized the store’s mission to serve newcomers as well as experienced consumers. “We want everyone to feel welcome here, including people who have never set foot in another dispensary,” she said. “As people gain awareness of the legal cannabis industry and become curious about the variety of products available, we want them to know they will feel comfortable here and get great service from our team.”

The dispensary features a curated lineup of lab-tested products including flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, vapes, and tinctures. The store prioritizes sourcing from Finger Lakes growers, with cannabis products from Tompkins County, Canandaigua, Fredonia, and Cortland.

Local craftsmanship is central to the store’s aesthetic. Reclaimed barnwood cabinetry by Barnwood Addicts’ Scott Ponton, a mosaic window by artist Denise Milito of CeCe & Lulu, and a mural by Craig Radnitz contribute to a distinctly regional atmosphere. The shop also sells gifts and artisan wares, including glassware from Three Trees Studio in Hector.

Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Customers must be at least 21 and present valid ID.
