EASTON, Pa. — Authorities seized more than $375,000 in cash and 6,000 packages of marijuana in a raid of four convenience stores in Northampton County.

District Attorney Stephen Baratta said the packages contained THC vapes and edibles all classified as marijuana, a Schedule I illegal substance under Pennsylvania law.

The raids occurred Thursday at three Penn Jersey stores in East Allen Township, Washington Township and Upper Mount Bethel Township, as well as at Pen Argyl Food Mart in Pen Argyl.

The Northampton County Drug Task Force conducted the raids.

Baratta said the following were confiscated:

1,103 THC edibles;1,923 THC vape cartridges; and,3,432 packages of THC flowers and pre-rolls.

Besides the cash seized, the estimated value of the products confiscated was more than $400,000, according to the district attorney’s office.

A manager at the Washington Township shop Friday said he was not authorized to speak on behalf of the store and the owner was out of town.

THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the psychoactive compound in cannabis plants.

Baratta said the products also contain suspected chemical additives that are unregulated and pose health risks if ingested.

“Last fall, [Baratta] warned the public of health risks associated with illegal and unregulated THC products being distributed in the county by local small businesses,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement Friday.

“The district attorney further directed the Northampton County Drug Task Force to prioritize investigations of local businesses for this purpose.”

“District Attorney Baratta continues to prioritize the vigorous prosecution of any local store owners or individuals involved in the possession or sale of these dangerous and illegal products.”

Undercover officers entered the stores and allegedly bought THC products with names such as “Bloom Budz,” “High Leaf THCA Lemon Gelato Flower,” and “Oh S*** White Widow Sativa,” according to Baratta.

All of the products allegedly tested positive for marijuana.

The raids were part of an investigation launched in March.

“District Attorney Baratta continues to prioritize the vigorous prosecution of any local store owners or individuals involved in the possession or sale of these dangerous and illegal products,” the statement reads.

“This is an ongoing investigation, and additional seizures and arrests are to follow.”
