The Northampton County Drug Task force seized more than 6,000 packages of marijuana-related products worth more than $400,000 from four convenience stores, according to authorities.

Task force members, assisted by several local police departments, raided the stores Thursday after an undercover investigation revealed the stores were illegally selling THC vapes and edibles, Northampton County District Attorney Stephen Baratta said in a news release Friday. THC is the active ingredient in cannabis that produces a high.

The stores included three Penn Jersey locations in East Allen Township, Washington Township and Upper Mount Bethel Township, as well as the Pen Argyl Food Market in Pen Argyl, Baratta said.

The task force in March started an investigation after receiving information that the stores were suspected of illegally selling the products. Undercover officers entered the establishments and purchased products containing THC that included “Bloom Budz,” “High Leaf THCA Lemon Gelato Flower,” “Oh S— White Widow Sativa” and “Oh S— THCA Sour Diesel,” according to Baratta.

The products were sent to the Pennsylvania State Police Laboratory and tested positive for marijuana. Detectives seized 1,923 THC vape cartridges and 3,432 THC flowers and pre-rolls, as well as more than $375,000 in currency, Baratta said.

The raids come months after Baratta warned the public of the health risks of unregulated and illegal THC products. Last August, marijuana and other illicit products worth an estimated  $500,000 were seized from a CBD store in Easton, authorities said.

Baratta said he “continues to prioritize the vigorous prosecution of any local store owners or individuals involved in the possession or sale of these dangerous and illegal products,” noting that many of them contain alleged chemical additives.

The investigation is ongoing and may result in additional seizures, Baratta said.
