EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Two men have been arrested on charges of dealing marijuana after a deadly shooting that happened during a home invasion on Sweetser Avenue in Evansville.
As we reported Tuesday, officers responded to the scene of a deadly shooting at a home on Sweetser Avenue. Police said three men broke into the home, and that a resident shot and killed one of the invaders. As of now, the other two break-in suspects remain on the run.
Two brothers, Cameron Thomas and Christian Thomas, have now been arrested on marijuana dealing charges in connection to the investigation.
According to a deputy’s report, investigators spoke with Christian, who told them he came to the home on Sweetser Avenue someone called him and told him Cameron had been involved in a shooting there.
The affidavit says Christian eventually admitted to removing drugs and a gun from the home after the shooting, and taking them to another location so they could be hidden.
As part of the investigation, police say they searched multiple homes and vehicles. In total, authorities say they seized nearly 3,500 grams of marijuana — about 7.5 pounds — during the searches, in addition to a firearm.
Both Cameron and Christian were booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on marijuana dealing charges. Christian is also being charged with obstruction of justice.
Authorities say the break-in suspect who was shot and killed was a 22-year-old from Evansville. The other two break-in suspects who remain on the run were described as wearing all black, with black gloves.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact police.
