CLOQUET, Minn. (Northern News Now) – The Fond du Lac Band is preparing to open its marijuana dispensary.
Fond du Lac leaders announced their dispensary, located on their reservation near Cloquet, will open sometime later in May.
According to an update included in the band’s newsletter, it will be connected to the reservation’s c-store on Big Lake Road.
They’re currently training new employees.
When Minnesota legalized recreational cannabis in 2023, state leaders gave tribal nations the authority to operate and regulate cannabis businesses located on their lands.
Several other bands have already opened marijuana dispensaries, including the Bois Forte Band in Tower.
Northern News Now reached out to Fond du Lac Band spokespeople to learn more about the facility but has not yet heard back.
