Albany, NY (WRGB) — Governor Hochul announced the confirmation of two appointments in New York State government. Joshua Norkin has been confirmed by the New York State Senate to serve as Director of the Authorities Budget Office, while Jessica García has been confirmed as Chair of the Cannabis Control Board.
Joshua Norkin, confirmed on June 9, previously served as Assistant Counsel to the Governor, Deputy Counsel to the Governor in 2022, and Senior Advisor to the Governor in 2024. He has practiced law in both the nonprofit and private sectors since 2008.
Jessica García, also confirmed on June 9, has been a board member on the Cannabis Control Board since 2021. She is the Assistant to the President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) and has served as Deputy Political Director for the RWDSU. García is also President of the Board of Directors of the New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health and a member of the Safe Passage Project.
