HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. — Humboldt County’s Board of Supervisors has revoked eight cannabis permits due to unpaid Measure S taxes. The decision was made during the board’s meeting on June 17.

Initially, nine permits were recommended for revocation. However, one was removed from the list since it is in the process of being transferred to a new owner who has agreed to pay the Measure S debt.

Some debts are being handled through payment plans, as the board continues to revoke permits for non-compliance. In some cases, property buyers are willing to tackle the tax debts of previous cultivators.

“The following finds the permits to have been exercised contrary to the terms and conditions of approval and revoked eight permits per section 3, one two dash one four of the Humboldt County Code, and directs the clerk with the board to provide a board order,” said Humboldt County 3rd District Supervisor Mike Wilson.

This action brings the total to 65 permits revoked, following the 57 reported earlier this year. Humboldt County Planning Commission Director John Ford estimates that 20 to 30 more tax debt revocations will be presented to the supervisors by the end of the year.
