A LORRY driver who is accused of attempting to smuggle over £400,000 worth of cannabis into Northern Ireland has been remanded in custody.
Alan Moore (46) of Killeen Road, Victoria Bridge, and with close connections to Fermanagh, appeared at Ballymena Courthouse via video link on Thursday, April 24.
Moore is facing a charge of possessing the Class-B controlled drug on March 29 of this year, and on the same date, he is also charged with possessing the same drug with intent to supply.
The charges relate to an incident at Larne Harbour, where police conducted a search of a HGV and seized an estimated £425,000 worth of cannabis.
At a brief hearing last week, a judge remanded Moore in custody at Maghaberry, and ordered that the case be adjourned to May 22.
This adjournment was requested by prosecution, who reasoned that the case is not yet ready to proceed further.
The hearing will take place at 9.30am at Ballymena Courthouse.
It is understood that Moore is involved with Toppit Transport, which has an address at Garvary, Enniskillen.
On LinkedIn, he is listed as a “haulage contractor” with the company.
