Cannabis use among New York adults continues to grow, according to a new state health report. In 2023, 14.7% of adults reported using marijuana within 30 days, up from 12.8% in 2020, RochesterFirst.com reported this week.
Smoking remains the most common method, though edible use jumped to 18.1%. Meanwhile, only 15% now use marijuana solely for medical reasons, down from 19.3% in 2020. Younger adults, especially those 21–24, reported the highest usage rates.
Officials urged responsible consumption and safe storage, noting cannabis has been legal recreationally in New York since 2021.
