May marijuana sales set multiple records, highlighting strength of Missouri market

Missouri reported $132.81 million in total marijuana sales for May 2025, according to data released by the Division of Cannabis Regulation, marking the state’s highest monthly total of the year and a 7.41% increase over May 2024.

The year-over-year growth in sales continues the state’s consistent upward trend in 2025. May 2024 recorded $123.65 million in sales, while May 2023 posted $120.90 million shortly after the launch of adult use.

Missouri’s average daily marijuana sales in May 2025 reached $4.28 million, up from $3.99 million in May 2024 and $3.90 million in May 2023. The increase in daily averages reflects a steady acceleration in consumer demand, even as month-over-month comparisons remain stable.

Monthly daily sales averages for 2025:

January: $3.96 million
February: $4.15 million
March: $4.22 million
April: $4.20 million
May: $4.28 million

Compared to April 2025’s total of $125.88 million, May sales rose by nearly $7 million, reversing the typical seasonal slowdown seen in previous years between April and May.

Through the first five months of 2025, Missouri has reported approximately $628.68 million in total marijuana sales. By contrast, the state recorded about $590.37 million over the same period in 2024.

The continued growth positions Missouri to exceed last year’s annual total of $1.46 billion in cannabis sales. Missouri also crossed another major milestone in May, surpassing $4 billion in cumulative marijuana sales since the program’s inception. The achievement further solidifies Missouri’s place as one of the strongest performing adult use markets in the country, and one of the hotspots for new and established brands.

May 2025 also set new records across multiple categories. It marked the highest total monthly marijuana sales in state history, the highest average daily sales at $4.28 million per day, and the highest monthly recreational marijuana sales since the launch of Missouri’s adult use program.
