TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – There are new efforts to get recreational marijuana back on the ballot in front of voters after it fell short in Florida’s last election season.

The new attempt has cleared its first hurdle: getting enough signatures to be reviewed by Florida’s Supreme Court.

The court will look over the legality and financial impact of the amendment. The petition needed about 220,000 signatures, and it got nearly 380,000.

Last year’s measure was supported by a majority of voters, but it missed the 60% benchmark to pass.
