The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office seized illegal marijuana at three farms in Cleveland County Tuesday.
According to a Thursday press release, law enforcement seized almost 65 pounds of processed marijuana and nearly 29,000 plants at three marijuana farms in Lexington. The release states the task force began the investigation in March due to a tip “concerning suspicious grow activities.”
Ruibin Wu and Xihai Yin were arrested and charged on counts of aggravated manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The Office of the Attorney General’s Organized Crime Task Force worked on the investigation and seizure with other law enforcement agencies, including the Oklahoma National Guard and the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority.
John Szymanski, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy of operations, told OU Daily Thursday his office also assisted with the raid due to the marijuana being kept at three separate farms.
Attorney General Gentner Drummond commended the collaboration of various law enforcement agencies in the release stating the office will continue to watch for such operations.
“These illicit grow operations often serve as fronts for organized crime and pose significant threats to public safety and our environment,” Drummond wrote. “We will remain vigilant in our efforts to shut down these criminal enterprises.”
