SHELDON—A 39-year-old Sheldon woman was arrested about 2:55 p.m. Friday, May 16, on the charges of first-offense operating while under the influence, first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest of April Lorraine Roth stemmed from the stop of a 2009 Kia Spectra for an equipment violation on Second Avenue near the Highway 60/Park Street intersection, according to the Sheldon Police Department.

Roth had bloodshot/watery eyes, impaired balance and the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed field sobriety tests.

She admitted to smoking marijuana three hours before being stopped and said she was high multiple times during the traffic stop, according to the incident report.

Roth also admitted to having marijuana in her purse. A dugout with marijuana in it and two plastic bags with marijuana were found in her vehicle.
