CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A 16-year-old has been charged after police said they were found with a gun and marijuana in Charlotte.

On April 22, 2025, police said they were conducting surveillance on the teen who was known to have guns. Officers saw the teen leave their home in a car. Knowing the teen didn’t have a valid driver’s license, officers pulled them over.

Officers saw a gun in the car during the traffic stop that matched the description of a gun the teen was known to have.

Officers then used a search warrant on the teen’s home, finding and seizing an additional gun, pistol brace and handgun magazines.

The teen was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of possession of a handgun by a minor and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

The teen’s guardian was charged with failure to secure a firearm, according to police.
