“Why not keep your money here in the state of Tennessee and help us to keep this product legal and keep it going in the state of Tennessee,” said Hemp Store owner Lori Chandler.
Tennessee Senate Bill 1413 seeks to cripple Tennessee’s THC Industry.
“They are trying to crack down on the THCA side of it, because when it’s ‘decarbed’ they cannot get it down past 5%,” said Chandler.
Hub City Hemp and CBD has stores across West Tennessee, selling products with CBD and THC. Lori Chandler is the owner of Hub City Hemp, which will be affected by the new Tennessee Senate Bill 1413.
“It’s going to hurt the growers. It’s going to hurt the business owners. It’s definitely going to hurt me because it stands a chance of shutting my doors in two locations. If we don’t have the THCA side of it, which is, you know, probably 60% of our sales, if not more, it’s going to hurt,” said Chandler.
Chandler explains the difference between THC and CBD are how they affect the body.
“THC gives you more of a head high. but the hemp side of it gives you more of the body high,” said Chandler.
The legislation would raise taxes on products with more than 15 milligrams of THC, severely limiting the products businesses can sell for profit, Chandler said.
“Our gummies right now that you’re getting for $40 for 20 gummies that were 25mg. Well, with this new law, it’s going to drive it up higher,” said Chandler.
Chandler pleaded with Governor Bill Lee not to sign the bill.
“Please do not sign this bill that will ban the THCA and keep it legal in the state of Tennessee,” said Chandler.
