BEEKMAN, N.Y. — A Texas woman was charged for smuggling marijuana into a downstate correctional facility.
On May 24, a trooper from the New York State Police responded to Greenhaven Correctional Facility in the Town of Beekman after receiving a report regarding a visitor bringing contraband into the Hudson Valley facility.
According to the NYSP, Christina C. Miranda, 24, from Weslaco, Texas, allegedly concealed around 63 grams of marijuana on her child’s back in order to transport it into the facility.
State Police said that Miranda was arrested and charged with promoting prison contraband and endangering the welfare of a child, both of which are misdemeanors.
She was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear before the Town of Beekman Court on June 12.
