Two men are being questioned by gardai in Clare and Limerick following a major drugs seizure earlier this week.
Gardai have confirmed around 500kgs of herbal cannabis, worth an estimated €10 million, was seized at a property in County Clare during an intelligence-led operation.
While some details of the seizure, which was made on Wednesday, have been confirmed the exact location has not been publicly disclosed.
An image released by gardai suggests the drugs were found concealed on a number of large pallets at a domestic property in rural Clare.

“As part of ongoing investigations by Revenue and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau targeting drugs distribution networks, gardaí from the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit and Limerick-based garda units carried out an operation at a residential property in Co Clare on Wednesday, May 7, 2025,” said a garda spokesperson who confirmed that a number of arrests were made.
“Two men in their 60s were arrested by An Garda Síochána and are currently detained at garda stations in Clare and Limerick under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996,” said the spokesperson.
A Revenue spokesperson said the seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations involving organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.

Investigations into Wednesday’s seizure are ongoing and the drugs will now be sent for further analysis.
