An Apopka woman was arrested on drug charges when officers found marijuana throughout her vehicle after she left a known narcotics residence.
An officer surveilling a known narcotics residence near 12th and West Main Streets observed a gray vehicle with the driver’s side door open at around 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. There were multiple individuals standing around it before the driver, later identified as 34-year-old Amy Marie Dinkins, headed westbound on West Main Street.

The officer followed the vehicle and continued to watch its movements. The vehicle then entered the Circle K parking lot, located at 900 S. 14th St., where another officer saw a woman and a man get into the vehicle. It then left the gas station, the report said.
The other officer watched Dinkins run a stop sign at the intersection of South Street and West Dixie Avenue, leading to a traffic stop. Despite the officer’s lights and siren being activated, the vehicle continued to “slow roll” for about a block before eventually coming to a complete stop near Rogers Park. Due to the initial non-compliance, officers on scene drew their firearms and initiated felony stop procedures, the report said.
Dinkins and the passenger were ordered to exit the vehicle, and both were safely detained. An officer approached Dinkins while a K-9 unit came to the scene to assist. The K-9 sniffed around the outside of the vehicle and positively alerted to the odor of narcotics, giving the officers probable cause to search the vehicle, the report said.
There were several small pieces of marijuana on the front passenger seat and a small clear baggie that tested positive for THC in a brown purse with Dinkins’ ID. Further inspection revealed another clear bag behind the driver’s seat and a clear container, both with marijuana and residue. The total weight of the marijuana was 6 grams, the report said.
Dispatch informed the officers that Dinkins had active warrants from Lake and Orange Counties. Her license had been cancelled since April 1, 2024, as well, the report said.
While the passenger was released from the scene, Dinkins was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams), drug paraphernalia (possess or use) and driving while license suspended/revoked (with knowledge). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.
