URBANA, Ill. (WICS) — An Urbana teen was arrested for distributing cannabis edibles on Urbana Middle School property after a fellow student consumed an edible and sought medical attention.
On April 17, the Urbana Police Department arrested a 14-year-old male from Urbana for delivery of cannabis as well as possession with intent to deliver more than 500 grams of cannabis-infused edibles on Urbana School District property.
The investigation began after a student sought medical attention and was later determined to have consumed cannabis edibles. Urbana Police School Resource Officers, in collaboration with Urbana School District officials, launched a prompt investigation into the incident.
As a result, officers identified and arrested the juvenile suspect. He was transported to the Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center, where he is being held pending future court proceedings.
