Arrests Made for Marijuana Delivery Service and Marijuana Sales to Juveniles

June 14, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that during the month of March 2025, detectives within the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) and the Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit (DEU) began an investigation into adult subject(s) who were actively selling marijuana and tobacco products to juvenile youth within the City of Camarillo. Based on this information, an investigation was launched into the suspected dealers.

During the investigation, SEU detectives identified two suspects. The first suspect was identified as City of Oxnard resident, (S) Cristian Barrera. The second suspect was identified as, City of Oxnard resident, (S) Ejaida Fernandez. The investigation further revealed both Barrera and Fernandez were conspiring with one another to deliver, furnish, and sell marijuana and tobacco products to juveniles within the City of Camarillo and the County of Ventura.

As a result of the investigation, SEU Detectives developed probable cause to arrest both Barrera and Fernandez for felony violations of California Health and Safety Code section 11361(b) – [Sales of Marijuana to Minors], California Penal Code Sections 182(a)(1) – [Conspiracy to Commit a Crime], and a misdemeanor violation of 308(a)(1)(A)(i) – [Sales of Tobacco to a Minor].

SEU Detectives subsequently obtained a search warrant signed by a Magistrate of the Ventura County Superior Court. The signed search warrant authorized detectives to search Barrera and Fernadez’ person, residence, vehicles and property for evidence of the crimes.

On June 5, 2025, detectives from Camarillo SEU, DEU, and the Bureau of Investigations were in the area of Gary Street in the City of Oxnard. While in the area, detectives observed Barrera complete a hand-to-hand transaction of suspected marijuana or tobacco with a juvenile. Detectives subsequently contacted Barrera in his vehicle as well as the juvenile on foot. Detectives searched Barrera and his vehicle pursuant to the signed search warrant. Detectives located evidence consistent with marijuana and tobacco sales inside Barrera’s vehicle. Detectives arrested Barrera for the aforementioned charges. The juvenile was also found to be in possession of a tobacco product and later released to a guardian.

At approximately 5:20 P.M. (1720 hours), detectives simultaneously served the signed search warrant at Barrera’s residence located in the 1000 Block of Evanston Place in the City of Oxnard and Fernadez’ residence located in the 3000 Block of W. Hemlock Street in the City of Oxnard.

Detectives searched both locations pursuant to the signed search warrant. Detectives located additional evidence of marijuana sales. Lastly, detectives seized United States currency believed to be the proceeds of illicit marijuana and tobacco sales. Fernandez was located at her residence and swiftly taken into custody for the aforementioned charges.

Both Barrera and Fernandez were transported and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. Based on the severity of the crime and the likelihood all currency located was proceeds of illicit marijuana and tobacco sales to juveniles, Barrera and Fernadez’ bail was set at $250,000.
