VILLE PLATTE, La. (NEWS 15) — Two Ville Platte men are facing charges after narcotics agents conducted a no-knock search warrant at a home in late May and found nearly 50 guns, marijuana plants, and meth, according to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Terry Campbell, 65, and Marvin Campbell, 71, are both charged with illegal carrying of a firearm (47 counts), marijuana distribution/possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, or synthetic cannabinoids (9 counts), and possessing or dealing in unregistered or illegally transferred weapons (2 counts).
They added Terry Campbell faces an additional charge of possession of Schedule II CDS methamphetamines. Records show he remains jailed on a $315,000 bond while Marvin Campbell was released after posting a $310,000 bond.
Authorities said the raid was on a home on LA 167 in Ville Platte on May 27 by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office. They noted agents found meth, 9 marijuana plants, and 47 guns, including two illegal ones. Officials added a large sum of cash was also seized during the search.
Investigators also said Marvin Campbell claimed a police badge found in a Jeep belonged to him, but Mamou Assistant Chief Caleb Semien confirmed he was not an officer and that the badge should have been returned.
