A 25-year-old man was charged with manufacturing and trafficking in dangerous drugs following an operation in which police seized over HK$12 million worth of heroin, cannabis buds and products containing cannabidiol (CBD) in Yau Tong.

Kowloon East regional anti-triad unit mounted the anti-narcotic operation on Friday and Saturday after they found that two units in an industrial building on Ko Fai Road were used by dealers to manufacture and store drugs.

During the two-day operation, police seized 12 kg of heroin, 8 kg of cannabis buds, 270 CBD e-cigarettes, 500ml of cannabis oil, some cannabis cookies, magic mushrooms and LSD stamps.

In one of the units, police further seized tools that were used to manufacture and package the drugs. The 25-year-old man was subsequently arrested.

The suspect is currently remanded in custody and will appear at Kwun Tong Court tomorrow (Mon).

Police said they will continue the investigation into the sources of the raw materials and may make more arrests.

Police warned that drug trafficking is a serious criminal offense and the maximum penalty upon conviction carries a HK$5 million fine and life imprisonment.
