Before Nelson and the minor were taken into custody, Walker, Nelson’s girlfriend, arrived on the scene to retrieve a 4-month-old who had been in the vehicle at the time of the arrests, according to police. Officers said they also took down Walker’s number before she left.
On Feb. 9, police said officers began monitoring jail phone calls between Nelson and Walker through which they allegedly heard Nelson directing Walker to sell a large amount of marijuana for $1,000.
On Feb. 10, police said they conducted a search warrant of the address mentioned in the jail phone calls. Inside the residence, officers said they found 6.9 pounds of marijuana, a vacuum bag sealer, the ID cards of Nelson and the minor, and medication with Walker’s name on it.
Shortly after the search, officers said they again listened to jail phone calls between Nelson and Walker in which they discussed the raid on the residence.
Walker was arrested Feb. 17, according to jail records.
Possession of between five to 50 pounds of marijuana is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.
